Development and validation of a dynamic model for regeneration of passivating baths using membrane contactors

چکیده
This work aims at the development of a dynamic model for the mathematical description of facilitated transport separation processes carried out in membrane contactors where mass transport phenomena are coupled with chemical reactions. A general model that takes into account the description of all possible mass transport steps and interfacial chemical reactions is initially presented, allowing its application to a wide range of separation processes and operation conditions. Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Simulation of CO2 Removal by Using Hollow Fiber Membrane Contactors
Abstract In this study, a mathematical model is proposed for CO2 separation from N2/CO2 mixtureusing a hollow fiber membrane contactor by various absorbents. The contactor assumed as non-wetted membrane; radial and axial diffusions were also considered in the model development. The governing equations of the model are solved via the finite...
متن کاملSeparation of Carboxylic Acids from Aqueous Solutions using Hollow Fiber Membrane Contactors
Separation of formic, acetic, and propionic acids from the aqueous stream using membrane solvent extraction has been studied using three different membrane contactors made of polysulfone (PS), polyethersulfone (PES), and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) using two different solvents; including ethyl acetate (EA) and diisopropyl ether (DIPE). The efciency of the membrane and e...
متن کاملModeling and Simulation of CO2 Absorption Enhancement in Hollow-Fiber Membrane Contactors using CNT–Water-Based Nanofluids
Absorption of CO2 from a gas mixture containing CO2 and nitrogen by water-based CNT nanofluids in gas–liquid hollow fiber membrane contactor was modeled and solved using COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4. The model assumed partial wetting of the membrane, along with diffusion in the axial and radial directions. In addition, Brownian motion and grazing effects were both considered in the model. The main c...
متن کاملNanofiltration of synthetic and industrial dye baths: Influence of temperature on rejection and membrane fouling
Nanofiltration (NF) has become a widely accepted process not only for producing drinking water but also for recovering wastewater in industrial processes or removing pollutants from industrial wastewater effluent. In the textile industry, the treatment of various dye baths with NF at room temperature have already been studied and was found feasible at lab-scale and pilot scale. The aim of this ...
متن کاملAdvanced Dynamic Simulation of Membrane Desalination Modules Accounting for Organic Fouling
A reliable dynamic simulator (based on a sound process model) is highly desirable for optimizing the performance of individual membrane modules and of entire desalination plants. This paper reports on progress toward development of a comprehensive model of the complicated physical-chemical processes occurring in spiral wound membrane (SWM) modules, that accounts for the...
